Football: Indian women beat Nepal to defend SAFF title
Defending champions India fought back from a goal down to defeat Nepal 3-1 and retain the Women's SAFF Football Championship here on Sunday. Down by a third-minute goal scored by Nepal's Dipa Adhikari, Supriya Rout Roy restored parity for India five minutes later. Both the teams were locked 1-1 at the interval. India doubled the score in the 64th minute through Bem Bem Devi. Kamala Devi completed the rout in the 87th minute.

Davis Cup: Youngsters do the job, help India stay in Group I
Vishnu Vardhan scripted a clinical singles victory and then combined with Divij Sharan to win the heart-stopping doubles rubber as India's young guns lived up to the expectations by winning the Davis Cup Group 1 relegation play-off tie against New Zealand in Chandigarh on Saturday. India won the last two dead rubbers against New Zealand here Sunday to win the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group I first round play-off 5-0. Yuki Bhambri and Sanam Singh won their respective reverse singles after India had already avoided relegation into Group II Saturday by taking an unassailable 3-0 lead.
