Dear DCWians,
 
It gives us immense pleasure to inform that we are organising a cultural evening to mark the 150th Birth Centenary of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore; as well as show respects to great revolutionary poet Kazi Nazrul Islam...
 
All residents are requested to attend this cultural function and make it a grand success.
 
The details of the program are as follows:
 
Venue: Community Hall (Tower 4)
Date     : 25th June 2011 (Sat)
Time   : 6:30 PM onwards
  
All residents are requested to take their seat latest by 6:20 PM as we will have limited seating arrangements, at the hall.
 
The program is being conceptualised by Mrs. Apala Sen (T-3/13G); Mrs. Susmita Sanyal (T-6/3C) and Mr. Saikat Sarkar (T-7 / 7G).
  
Interested residents willing to participate may kindly contact Mr. Ranjan Chakraborty (T-4 / 9A, Extn: 1364) or Mr. Subhasish Roy Chowdhury (T-4 / 7H, Etxn: 1355) between 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
  
We are also delighted to announce that the following personalities have consented to grace the occasion by their presence, and if we are fortunate enough, we will have all of them with us on this evening.

The menu is:
Kachori, Cholar dal, Aloo dum, Fried Rice, Chicken kasa(non-veg)/Navratan korma(veg only), Chutney, Papad, Sandesh.
 
We would request whole-hearted participation from you and your family. Our volunteers will try to contact you at your doorsteps.
 
You may also contact any of us through our respective extension or mobile number to collect your coupons between 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. We shall also distribute remaining dinner coupons between 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM on 24th June, 2011 under the connector of Tower 3 & 4. 
Please collect your coupons today as we have another 40-50 coupons left !!!
 
If, for any unforeseen reasons, we could not reach you either through mail or in person, you are requested to please take it at the right spirit and get in touch with any of us and collect your coupon as explained above.
  
We are forced to reach out this way as the promoters have denied us from putting up notices at respective Tower Notice Boards.

Evening functions on 15th Aug

 

The evening started with an extract from Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali stating his vision of a free India and a prayer to the Almighty of a dawn into which our country awakes.

 

We then paid humble tribute and homage to all those visionaries who made this dream of Independence a reality ........and pledged to continue this legacy through the days to come......

 

This 15th August also witnessed a colourful Cultural Evening this year followed by Dinner attended by over 400 guests (thru' paid coupons).

The cultural Evening was organised in Tower 8 Community Hall.

 

o Multilingual Composition:

 

The program started with a composition by Saikat Sarkar and Lady residents of DCW...... (after an arduous 15 day stretch of regular practise).

It started with the Sanskrit Sloka "Atha Swagatam, Subho Swagatam / Anando Mangal Mangalam / Nito Priyom Bharat Bharatam / Atha Swagatam, Subho Swagatam"

 

Then they presented the song of unity from the state of Gujrat "Rang Rangila Ful Ameto / Rang Rangila Ful / Bharat Mane Koule Kiltan Rang Rangila Ful / Ameto Rang Rangila Ful"

 

The flow then took us to Orissa "Ganga Bahoi, Jamuna Bahoi / Ganga Bahoi, Bahoi Jamuna / Bahoi Sindhu Bhramhaputra / Bahoi Godabori Krishna Kaberi/ Mahanadi Dhuye Yahar Gatro,/ Giribonabhumi Yar Barendro,/ Ei Amoro Bharatborsho"

 

From east we criss-crossed the West with the Marathi song "Hi Anadi Sankriti, Hi Ananta Bharati / Roj Aruna Chandrama, Arteesh Ugboti / Dharani Chhatrasaori, May Bhumi Chyashiri / Ha Yuge Yuge Uva, Achalo Raaj Himgiri / Charani Adha Dharaba, Sindhu Lahari Usalti"

 

then, we moved to the fun-filled sun kissed state of Goa with a very catchy Goanese song "Chio Chio Chi, Chio Chio Chi / Chio Chio Chio Chio Chio Chio Chi / Aanderma Mamuija, Ani Aosa Gatuka / Ani Majerisa Filiya Taka, Khel Mandinaka / Maya Maya Maya Maya Maya Maya"

 

Final conclusion of the composition was with an Urdu composition "Sare Jahan Se Accha Hindostan Hamara / Ham Bulbulain Hai Is Ki, Yeh Gulsitan Hamara / Ghurbat Men Hon Agar Ham, Rahta Hai Dil Vatan Men / Samjho Vahin Hamen Bhi, Dil Hain Jahan Hamara"

 

There was spontaneous applause from the audience after each song. This composition was conceptualised by Saikat Sarkar and Ranjan Chakraborty.

 

o Tiny Tots of DCW wearing traditional dresses from different states performed on "Mile Sur Mera Tumahara", conceptualised by Susmita Sanyal.

 

o Torsa Talukdar performed for a solo dance.

 

o We then enjoyed elocution/ recitation by sweet angels Anandi Halder and Anandini Saha.

 

o A Group of DCW Children presented "Jai Ho" composed by their trainer Amit

 

o Mome Sinha sung a modern Bengali Song followed by solo dance from Arunima Singh; recitation by Subhradeep Sinha and a song from Alokesh Roy

 

o Little Vinisha Dave sung "Nana Munna Rahi Hoon / Desh ka Sipahi Hoon"

 

o The program was concluded by bouquet of songs presented by Senior Ladies of DCW

 

Entire program was conducted by Partha Sanyal. Due to overwhelming response the hall was full of DCWIANS and everybody enjoyed the evening and later most of them joined in Community Dinner organised at Tower 4 Community Hall.

 

We collected no subscription from General Residents. However we would like to acknowledge following voluntary contributions and facilities.

We sincerely acknowledge the participation from all residents of DCW to celebrate 64th National Independence Day (3rd in DCW Campus).

 

Preparation and Unfurling the Tricolor

 

Few residents and JLL staffs gathered in the Central Lawn by 7:00 AM to start preparation for Flag Hoisting, Blood Donation Camp, Sit N Draw Competition and Tree Plantation. Along with many other residents; Anudhyan Talukdar, Debanjan Mallick and Alok Agarwal decorated the map of India like last two years.

 

Kids jumped out their bed in early morning, dressed up and gathered in the central lawn along with their parents. Senior Citizens and other residents started gathering from 7:45 am onwards. Mr. Subol Kr. Das, one of the senior most residents in DCW unfurled the tricolor followed by Singing of National Anthem by all residents. Senior Citizens like Mr. Dhiraj Ganatra, Mr. Sunil Chatterjee, Mr. Bipadbhanjan Biswas said few words of inspiration.

 

 

 

 

Wheel Chair Donated by DCWSDC

On this auspicious occasion, DCW Sarbojanin Durgotsav Committee (resident's only democratically elected committee ), donated a folding Wheel Chair for the society. Secretaries of DCWSDC, Gouri Shanker Singh and Gobindo Prasad Senapti handed over the wheel chair to JLL Property Manager in presence of all residents and Mr. Diptimoy Chatterjee, President, DCWSDC. This will be kept in JLL office and anyone can contact 514/511/512 to avail this during emergency.

 

 

Performance by DCW Kids and Karate Show

 

Kids of DCW, performed in a composition conceptualized by Anindita Halder and Shibani Biswas. This was followed by a Karate Show by the Children of DCW.

 

 

Sit and Draw Competition

 

Conducted by Sourav Sanyal and Mr. N. S. Das and many others, DCW witnessed more than 100+ young talents participated in this competition. Refer to DCW 3695 and DCW 3696 for results and further details.

 

 

Tree Plantation

Initiated by Himanshu Dave and some other, children of DCW planted around 20 saplings this time. Property Manager, Kamalika Mukhejee and JLL team along with Gardeners did handhold the kids and youngster. All saplings now carry the name of its guardians – 2/3 children on DCW in a temporary placard. Since we received many names during the event, soon these will be replaced by permanent board including the newly added names.

 

 

Blood Donation Camp

 

AMRI officials reached DCW by 9 AM. The camp and setup was already completed Mr. Kaushik Halder and team. The registration queue as well as the camp was managed by many volunteers including Gobindo Senapati, Jayanta Chakraborty, Gouri S. Singh and few others. DCW registered 75+ willing blood donors this time. Certificates, Cards and Medical Reports will be provided by AMRI within 15 days.

 

 

Thus we concluded morning session, response for all events were overwhelming. We mentioned few names, but there were many more, probably all the residents. Everyone join hands in true spirit to make the event successful, even God extended his blessing in the form of a bright day J

Aloke Ghosh

I am born and brought up in Kolkata and did my schooling from St. Lawrence High School and graduated in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University. I had the distinction of being awarded  'University Blue' in Table Tennis. At present, I am associated with Beekay Steel Industries Ltd. as General Manager - Marketing, reporting to my Directors and accountable for all India sales and marketing operations . My family includes my mother, wife and son.

Anudhayan Talukdar

I am residing at DCW and working as Asst. General Manager for Royal Classic Group a garment Manufacturing Co. based in Tirupur & Bangalore. Basically I am in the field of Marketing & Sales and working in this Trade for the Past 20 years. I am Born & brought up in Kolkata and done my schooling from St. James and College from South City and my MBA from Bhubaneswar. My family consists of my wife & one Daughter. My Wife, Sayanti is a professor in Philosophy and doing her Doctorate in Serampore College and my Daughter, Torsa is studying in Class-VII in La Martineare for Girls. Living in DCW since April 2009.

Inasree Sanyal

One word to sum me up is emotional...Born and bought up at Kolkata started my carrier in the banking industry with banks like HSBC, HDFC and CITI, till fate intervened and I got a full time job babysitting my little bundle of joy my 16 month old son. But I make an effort to keep myself updated on the latest eco-political situation around and engage in intelligent discussions with people around me and through this forum. Have been a part of this DCW family for the past one and half years. I stay with my family comprising my mother-in law, husband and son.

Member of a nuclear family with one son and wife. Working as Sr. Manager (Marketing) with IOCL at Pondy.

Shree Ram Poddar

Simple but not easy going, never tolerating the injustice or domination of any kind and striving with intense working for change & improvement, Shree Ram Poddar, a perfect blend of youth & maturity, born in 1958. He completed his graduation in commerce & MBA and is presently working with Bangur Group of Industries as Director on Board of their various Companies i.e. Fort Gloster Industries Ltd, Bauria, Howrah  and Gloster Cables Ltd, Hyderabad. He is socially active with various Organisations viz Lions Club of Howrah, a renowned NGO, operating two Hospitals in Howrah District, famous for its over 8000 nos of Free IOL cataract operations every year besides other social welfare program for mankind. He is also a life member of Ratangarh Nagrik Parishad and associated with Kolkata Police giving voluntary services, playing role of bridge between Police and general public. The woman behind his success is Sunita Poddar who is a constant source of inspiration. They are blessed with one son Anant  and one daughter Rashmi who is happily married to Anurag.
